Musician Friends
- Jean Pierre Bameulle. When I first met Jean Pierre, he was a recording engineer at Studio de Milan and then Studio Hautefeuille in Paris and recorded three of my albums. Today, Jean Pierre is founder of the French recording studio, LRA (La Restauration Audio). The studio specializes in audio restoration and remastering. He also has his own LRA blog and recently raved about my rendition of "Worried Life Blues." Check out the blog post at:

We met singing on the streets of Paris back in the early 70s, when folk music was at its peak. We wrote and recorded together and used to play the occasional gig together around London. My son Max
My son, Max Peterson (a.k.a. Mad Maxx) is a very talented composer and musician who performs all over the world. His specialty is electronic Trance Music, which he plays at huge parties, raves, and concerts.
I guess music runs in the family. Max always had a great ear for music, spending time with me as a baby and toddler in my studios in Mendocino and Hollywood CA. When he was a youngster, we moved to France, and he had the opportunity to hang out in my Paris studio. After ten years or so, we returned to the U.S., and Max spent more time with me as a teenager in my studio in Ojai, and later in Santa Cruz, CA.
Around age 18, Max came into his own and became keenly interested in electronic and Trance music, hanging out with other musicians in their studios and learning to use their recording equipment. After that it was on to being a DJ at parties and then writing and recording his own music - and it turns out he's very good at it. Now he composes and produces great Trance music, traveling all over the world, and playing to appreciative audiences in Russia, Japan, U.K., Mexico, Europe, Brazil, Canada, and India, to name a few places.
Sometimes we record together, which is a great joy for me, and somehow, our two styles coalesce. I was trained in classical and jazz music, and he wasn't trained at all, just picked it up along the way. It always amazes me how we can learn to do more or less the same things in radically different ways. It's like all roads leading to Rome.
